Local Service Tech
Position Summary: The primary responsibilities for this position will include both electro-mechanical assembly and testing. This position will also support the Service department with field installations and troubleshooting.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assemble and test equipment to the mechanical specifications
- Wire equipment to the electrical schematic specifications
- Inspect all assemblies for proper operation
- Test and de-bug equipment to insure proper functionality
- Perform all Drake and customer acceptance test.
- Manage wire rack inventory
- Travel to customer sites (domestic and foreign) to install or service F.R. Drake equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems at customer site and over the phone for service support.
- Train customer personnel on the operation, maintenance and repair of the equipment
- Provide on-the-job training to customer personnel on the operation, maintenance and repair of the equipment.
- Follow all company safety polices
- Keep work area neat and clean
- Ensure all equipment meets all Drake Acceptance Test requirements
Job Duties:
- Complete “Engineering Change forms” to document necessary modifications to parts and assemblies
- Keep accurate timesheets or employee job scans
- Perform secondary operations as needed (i.e. tapping, reaming, deburring, and stud welding)
- Ensure all equipment documentation is complete and correct to include photos
- Assist engineering department in equipment troubleshooting
- Make oral presentations to customers or Engineering staff regarding training, maintenance, repairs, product problems and recommended solutions
- Prepare and submit detailed written reports of worked performed, problems experienced, recommendations on improvements and training performed at customer facilities
- Provide recommendations (oral or written) to the Engineering Department for design specifications to correct problems and/or provide performance improvements
- Actively participate in cost saving ideas
- Perform Plant maintenance, equipment PM, and equipment repair when needed.
Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills and Performance:
- Minimum one-two years electrical commercial wiring and mechanical assembly experience with industrial equipment or a formal electrical/mechanical education
- Must have a minimum of high school education
- Must have the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
- Must be able to work independently from verbal instructions with minimum supervision
- Must be able to communicate well at all levels of management
- Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus
- Must have knowledge of AC drives, PLC’s, and Servos
- Must be able to read a multi meter
- A.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree or certificate of completion – would be a plus
Physical demands and work environment:
- Must be able to physically work off of step ladder safely
- Overtime may be required
- The machine shop and customer location can be noisy dusty at times. Eye and foot protection are required. Hearing protection may be required in certain areas.
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must have the ability to occasionally lift up to fifty-five (55) pounds
- Must have the ability to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods, typically not beyond two weeks.
- Must maintain valid passport and current driver’s license.
- Must have the ability to work in a food processing/packaging plant environment with (temperatures ranging from 35 to 40 degrees F. and high noise levels) at remote locations both foreign and domestic. Hours could include night shift hours depending on customer requirements.
- Position is issued a company cell phone and company laptop used in communicating while traveling on company business or conducting company business after the normal workday.
CNC Machinist
Position Summary: The primary responsibilities for this position are to machine parts to the print specifications with manual mills, lathes, and prototrak mills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Excel as a member of a manufacturing team and contribute to the success of the team
- Machine parts to meet the print tolerances and finish requirements
- Meet the standard labor hour goals established for production
- Must be able to write simple machining codes for prototrak mills
- Inspect all parts to ensure the quality standards are met
- Machine parts in the order of priority (Supervisor/Team Leader will set priorities)
- Minimize the waste of materials
- Maximize the life of tooling resources
- Follow company safety policies
- Keep the work area neat and clean
Job Duties:
- Complete “Engineering Change Forms” to document necessary modifications to parts and assemblies
- Keep accurate time sheets
- Accurately scan in and out of jobs in labor reporting
- Move parts to the next operation
- Deburr all parts prior to moving to next operation
- Perform secondary operations such as reaming, tapping, and broaching
- Participate in continuous improvement projects
Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills and Performance:
- Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a minimum of two years of manufacturing experience in a machine shop environment
- Must pass a written machinist test
- Must have good math skills
- Must be proficient at reading blueprints
- Must be capable of reading precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers
- Must be proficient with the use of linear and angular measuring tools
- Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
- CNC machining experience is a plus
Physical demands and work environment:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. several times a day
- Must be able to stand for up to 10-12 hours per day (depending on shift)
- Overtime may be required
- The machine shop is a manufacturing environment, which can be noisy and dusty at times. Hearing, eye, and foot protection are required at all times.
